La utilización de la letra itálica
como escritura escolar no es nueva, aunque calígrafos norteamericanos la
presentan como la mejor opción para iniciar la enseñanza de la caligrafía con
niños, los primeros reportes de su utilización, se encuentran en New Zelanda en
un material elaborado para las escuelas de primaria hacia 1985 y reeditado en
el 2005 por el Ministerio de Educación, se propone la enseñanza de la caligrafía
escolar, la letra itálica script y la letra itálica cursiva.
